E-Commerce and Trade Facilitation in South Asia
Abstract
South Asia, home to nearly a quarter of the world's population, has emerged as one of the fastest-growing regions for digital commerce and electronic trade facilitation. The convergence of rapid digitalization, expanding internet penetration, and evolving consumer behaviors has transformed traditional trade patterns across the region. This article examines the current state of e-commerce development in South Asia, analyzes trade facilitation mechanisms, and explores the challenges and opportunities that define the region's digital commerce landscape. The study encompasses major South Asian economies including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and the Maldives.
