Export Financing Models in Latin America: A Case Study
Abstract
Export financing remains a critical determinant of international trade competitiveness in Latin America, where diverse economic structures and varying levels of financial market development have resulted in heterogeneous financing models across the region. This case study examines export financing mechanisms across major Latin American economies, analyzing their effectiveness in supporting export growth, SME participation, and economic diversification. The research explores traditional banking instruments, development finance institutions, capital market solutions, and innovative fintech approaches that have emerged to address the region's unique challenges. Through comparative analysis of country-specific models and institutional frameworks, this study identifies best practices and policy recommendations for enhancing export financing accessibility and effectiveness in promoting Latin American export competitiveness.
